WE MISS YOU GRANDPA!!!

so, on saturday i attended Frozen Dead Guy Days (pictures up soon). it's a festival in nederland, CO that you should read more about on that link. anyway, our friend, travis and his friend, ben joined us as they were finishing their american tour on their way back to arkansas. leah joined us and we met her friend, stavros in boulder.

we drove up into the mountains sitting on a futon mattress in the back of a van that travis and ben had been driving. the temperature dropped dramatically as we made our way into the mountains. when we arrived it was 28 degress.

we showed up just in time to barely miss the polar plunge. this is when they use a chainsaw to cut a hole in a frozen pond, and people jump in, get pulled out by firemen, and jump in a hot tub.

we did, however, catch the coffin carry. that is where people create and submit their team, build a coffin, and then carry a friend in the coffin through a obstacle course against another team. very interesting.

afterward, we headed to the beer tent. this proved to be the most overwhelming ordeal of my life. outside, we purchased a pint glass and were given a ticket for our beer. then we headed inside a tent that was probably 50' by 80' with tables all the way around each side with dead guy merch, food, a booth to take pictures with grandpa, a stage, and beer. this little tent probably had 150 people attempting to mosh their way to the brewery tables. meanwhile, people who've got their beer are trying to find their way back. the real kicker was that no beer was allowed outside, so once all of these hundreds of people had their beer, they could not leave.

then we saw mountain standard time, a hippy bluegrass jam band, who stavros knew a few members from bluegrass jam sessions. it was good, it was cold, it was fun.

then we headed to boulder for food, and a jam session between stavros and travis.

love,
anthony
