MINIONS!!

i worked for around 3-4 hours today on revamping a porfolio to start sending out. i'm still sore from snowboarding on saturday. it was probably the best weekend to go before winter park closed. i got venture bros. season 3 the other day and it's great. i'm excited for the new season coming up.

you've been smooching with everybody!

it's snowing outside. some are saying that it may be a historical blizzard for denver. the snow has been coming down steadily since the early this morning. there's probably only about 2-3 inches on the ground right now. i've just been sitting here eating oatmeal and drinking coffee with a hot chocolate packet in it. it feels christmas-y. yesterday amber, brandon, and i watched home alone 2. i'm not sure why it was on tv. they're missed it by about 4 months.

still no job. amber and lizzie where here for spring break and looking for design internships. it made me sit down with them and find good design firms around denver. i'm probably going to get a nice portfolio together to send to them. i bet nothing comes of it, but it's worth trying.

boop borp

there are so many people traveling through denver. friends from jbu, friends from high school, roommates' families. pretty crazy. we had 4 people stay at our house last night. i woke up early this morning to drive marcus to the airport. it was sad to see him go so soon.

i want to see micah and emily. they're so far away. i'll probably see you soon.

FROZEN DEAD GUY DAYS (pictures)

Sunday, March 8

WE MISS YOU GRANDPA!!!

so, on saturday i attended Frozen Dead Guy Days (pictures up soon). it's a festival in nederland, CO that you should read more about on that link. anyway, our friend, travis and his friend, ben joined us as they were finishing their american tour on their way back to arkansas. leah joined us and we met her friend, stavros in boulder.

we drove up into the mountains sitting on a futon mattress in the back of a van that travis and ben had been driving. the temperature dropped dramatically as we made our way into the mountains. when we arrived it was 28 degress.

we showed up just in time to barely miss the polar plunge. this is when they use a chainsaw to cut a hole in a frozen pond, and people jump in, get pulled out by firemen, and jump in a hot tub.

we did, however, catch the coffin carry. that is where people create and submit their team, build a coffin, and then carry a friend in the coffin through a obstacle course against another team. very interesting.

afterward, we headed to the beer tent. this proved to be the most overwhelming ordeal of my life. outside, we purchased a pint glass and were given a ticket for our beer. then we headed inside a tent that was probably 50' by 80' with tables all the way around each side with dead guy merch, food, a booth to take pictures with grandpa, a stage, and beer. this little tent probably had 150 people attempting to mosh their way to the brewery tables. meanwhile, people who've got their beer are trying to find their way back. the real kicker was that no beer was allowed outside, so once all of these hundreds of people had their beer, they could not leave.

then we saw mountain standard time, a hippy bluegrass jam band, who stavros knew a few members from bluegrass jam sessions. it was good, it was cold, it was fun.

then we headed to boulder for food, and a jam session between stavros and travis.

Wednesday, March 4

so i drove into the woods and wandered aimlessly about...

today i went to a coffee house reccomended to my by leah miller's roommate, megan. we met a few days ago and informed me that she was leaving her job. she said that i should go apply. so, i went and got a latte and talked to sandy. she asked me a few questions and told me to bring her my resume.

so i sat sipping my latte and reading national geographic. i read a lot about CO2 emissions and this whole story about a husband and wife trying to cut their output by 80% and how hard it was. things like central heating and driving are really the biggest problems in our society. i read this making mental notes on what i should change to at least help in my small way.

after i finished my latte, i said goodbye to sandy and said i'd bring back my resume. i hope she liked me. i had my holga with me and i've been shooting my very first roll of medium format 120 film. i'd really been wanting to get a cool landscape shot of the mountains, which is hard living south of downtown, and in that instant i started driving west.

at first i felt odd, because i just started driving on a whim, with no ending point. i was just going to stop when i found a good spot to get a shot. i also kept thinking about how my random road trip without a certain end was not very emissions friendly. nevertheless, i drove and drove, and stopped in what i found out later was Golden, CO. I drove along the mountain range and stopped just on the outside of a large, empty, nature preserve. i snapped off 2 shots, and then started driving home.

i hit rush hour traffic on the way home, but then i finished off the roll of film and dropped it off. hopefully i'll have some stuff to post here.
